Home > 2016-2017 President’s Letter

Dear Fellow CFSD Parents,

The CFSD Foundation has one very simple yet ever important mission.  We raise supplemental funds to attract, develop and retain excellent teachers throughout the district.  Every donation is given directly to the district to fund programs that support our teachers to the benefit of all students in our district, from early learning through high school.  Our fundraising goal for donations for 2016-2017 is $150,000 to fund teacher development and training, something that impacts every child in the district through new innovative programs.  If we are able to surpass our goal, more dollars can be gifted to the district to have an even bigger impact in each classroom.

There is no element in a child’s school day that has a greater impact on their educational experience than their teacher.  In fact, recent studies show that teacher quality is even more important than class size.  Excellent teachers lead to an excellent education!

We hear regularly how state funding for education has been consistently reduced and how Arizona ranks at the bottom of funding per student in the nation.  Despite these deep cuts, CFSD is a nationally renowned education system that we should be very proud of.  Our students are receiving world class education and are becoming life learners. We are successful because we are a team of dedicated district leaders, teachers and parents working together to ensure our students succeed.  In order to continue to see this success, we need your financial support to offset the deep funding reductions from the state.  Your donation will be gifted directly to the district to support teachers.  The more donations we receive, the more support the teachers receive.

Please help us exceed our goal for this year.  Donate online through our secure site at cfsdfoundation.org.  We are a 501(c)3 organization so donations are tax-deductible and can be employee matched, if available through your employer.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you throughout the school year.  Make sure to mark your calendar for our fall kick off event on Friday, September 30th.  I hope to see every district family there!

Sincerely,

Jean Popham
